Billie was born on the Pat Malonay place at 7:30 in the evening Sept 23, 1914, and grew to manhood around Alexis, IL. He was a joy, to know him was to like him.
He was home for 30 days comming Nov. 10, leaving for Des Moines Dec 10 - was last time home.
Mother was with him a couple hours before death in hospital a Des Moines, Iowa. They called it house 25 there. His pal Curtis Peterson of Davenport who was in the same house came to funeral. Also Mr. Miller who enlisted him.
His lady friend was Pat Kniest, 1701 Nicholson PL., St. Louis, MO.

11/20/93 According to my mother: She and dad met at a park south of Viola on U.S. Rt. 67 at Pope Creek (Bridger's Corner) - he was playing baseball. Dad lived on a farm near that park on the east side of 67. He moved from there to a farm near her church (Sunshine, IL), and while he was in high school, he lived on a farm about a mile north of Alexis.

She and Dad expected to live with Fred and Myrt on the farm, but Fred quit farming about 1930, and moved to Alexis.
