Obituaries & Death Notices JOHNSON, Almira Moore (Mrs. James M.) Almira Moore was born at Victoria, Illinois, November 7, 1847, and passed away at her home in Cambridge February 26, 1923 at the age of 75 years, three months and nineteen days. She was a daughter of John and Emeline Moore and was of a family of seven children, two brothers and one sister preceeding her in death One brother Aaron Moore resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a brother Frank Moore living in Kentucky and one sister in Missouri. She was united in marriage to George Knapp at Knoxville, Illinois, July 3, 1866 and to this union were born four children, two dying in infancy. The living children are Mrs. Eva Horton of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one son, Samuel Knapp of Los Angeles,California. On February 18 1884, she was united in marriage to James Johnson at Cambridge, Illinois, who with the brothers and sisters, son and daughters and two grandsons, Bert M. Talbot of Kewanee and Royce Cherry are left to mourn her passing. The funeral was held from her late home last Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. R. A. Gordon of the M. E. church. Hammond James Monroe Johnson was born June 11, 1849, in Jay County, Indiana, and died at his home in Cambridge, Thursday, March 1st, 1923 at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was of a family of 14 children. He leaves to mourn his loss two brothers and one sister, the latter residing in Iowa. He was married to Almira Knapp, February 18, 1884, in Cambridge, Illinois. His wife preceded him in death three days before he passed away. He leaves on son Frank of Ellmore, Minnesota, and one step daughter, Mrs. Eva Horton of Cincinnati, Ohio. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon from the undertaking rooms of Gustafson & Culver conducted by Rev. R. A. Gordon of the Methodist Church. Interment was in Rosedale. Source: Cambridge Chronicle, Thursday, March 8, 1923 Contributed by: Paul J. Hammond Martin W. Johnson, 85, of 236 Payson st., died at Kewanee Public Hospital at 12:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 1973. He was born in New Windsor Feb. 21, 1888, the son of Nels F. and Mathilda Johanson Johnson. He was a wholesale grocery salesman and also was employed by Brown, Lynch, Scott & Co. in Kewanee for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Zion Lutheran Church. He was married to Sarah (sic) Brooks in Rock Island Feb. 24, 1909. She died Sept 8, 1951. He later married Mildred Abbott March 28,1954 in Cambridge, and she survives, along with a son, Keith E. Johnson, and a daughter, Mr. Delbert (Kathryn) Sturgeon, both of Kewanee; six grandchildren; six great-grandchilren and a sister, Miss Marie Johnson of Galesburg. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Creamer Funeral Home with the Rev. P. Daniel Fant officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Johnson, 62, 500 McKinley ave., died at Kewanee Public hospital Saturday after a two-year illness. Mrs. Johnson had been a resident of Kewanee for 17 years. The former Sara A. Brooks, she was born at New Windsor Jan. 13, 1889, and seh (sic) married Martin W. Johnson Feb. 24, 1909, at Rock Island. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church and of the Women's Missionary and Ladies Aid societies. Surviving besides the husband are four brothers, Thomas, J., George H., John W. and Ernest Brooks, New Windsor, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Cole, Aledo. One son, Keith, Kewanee, and a daughter, Mrs. Delbert Sturgeon, Kewanee, also survive, as do four grandsons. Her parents, one brother and a sister are dead. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Seifert and Smith funeral home. Rev. Ordell Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial gardens. Jones son of John G. (sic) and Ann Jones died this morning at 12:30 o'clock at his home on North Main St., aged 41. Death came after an illness lasting over a month and was due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Jones was born in Alma, Ill July 14, 1864. During his residene (sic) in Kewanee his chief occupation was that of coal miner. Besides the father and mother there are left to mourn his death the bereaved wife and two daughters, Elizabeth and Ethel. The funeral survice will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the house and at 2:30 at the Latter Day Saints' church. Elder G. S. Holmes of Buffalo Prairie has been sent for and will be here to officiate at the funeral. The remains will be laid to rest in Pleasant View cemetery. Jr. is also mentioned.] MISS ANNA JOYCE IS LAID TO REST IN MOUNT OLIVET Funeral services for Miss Anna Joyce were held at Visitation Church solemn Requiem high mass being celebrated by the Rev. Thos. Kelly, assisted by the Rev. Angelo Rinella, of St. Viator’s college. The attendance was large and there were many beautiful flowers and numbers spiritual bouquets. Bearers were. P.J.McDermott, H F.
