Obituaries & Death Notices KERR, Margery Elizabeth Whitehouse KEWANEE -- Margery Elizabeth Kerr, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Kewanee, died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, in Springfield. Born Aug. 15, 1901, in Kewanee to Roland and Maude Haver Whitehouse, she married Roy H. Kerr Sr. on April 20, 1921. He died Oct. 29, 1984. Two infant sons and two brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Roy H. Jr. of Springfield and Roland of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Hawkes of Norman, Okla.; two brothers, Herbert Whitehouse of LaSalle and Sidney Whitehouse of Norman; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Christian Church in Kewanee and War Mothers of World War II. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Brian Giese will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. King On Wednesday evening May 6th 1908 at the midnight hour, occurred the death of Francis Livingston King, the father of Dwight King who resides in the north part of town. Mr. King had been confined to the house for some months past and his death was caused by old age infirmities. He has made Cambridge and vicinity his home for the past forty years and was well known by this community. The deceased was born in the fall of 1831, at Boston, Massachusetts (sic), and is the last of a family of six children to be called by the Grim Reaper; at the age of 78 years. In 1861 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Roby, of Ontario township, Knox County, Illinois, and to this union were born thirteen children, seven sons and six daughters of which seven are left to mourn the departure of their departed father. Mrs. King passed away several years ago. Mr. King came to Andover some forty years ago and has resided in this community ever since. He became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Andover shortly after his arrival there and was always found at his post in whatever undertaking he decided upon. Thus one by one we are called upon to chronicle the departure of our old settlers. Short funeral services were held at the Angevine undertaking parlors on last Saturday morning conducted by Rev. Witter of the M. E. church, after which the remains were taken to Andover for interment. The pall bearers were: William Patton, H. J. Wiedenhoeft, Sidney Wilkinson, Geo. Cherry, S. E. It is clear from other records he was born and baptized in Stockbridge, Berkshire County, MA] Peter Komer Dies Yesterday Afternoon Aged German Farmer Passes Away at The Home of John Faber At the advanced age of 83 years, 3 months and 3 days, Peter Komer died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, at the home of his brother-in-law, John Faber, five miles southwest of Kewanee. Death was due to infirmities of age. Mr. Komer has been gradually failing all spring and so his death came not altogether unexpectedly. Lived With His Son Mr. Komer was born in Lukenborg, Germania, and resided there until coming to America in 1885. After coming to this country he made his home with his son Mich, residing southwest of Kewanee. Four years later he accompanied his son to Minnesota where he resided until 1893, when he again returned to Kewanee and has since then resided at the home of his brother-in-law, Mr. Faber. Ten Children Born August fifth of last year his wife passed away. There were ten children in the family, seven of whom are living, being as follows: Peter and John, who reside in Germany; Mich of Minnesota, Matthew of South Dakota, Mary, now Mrs. Hinslow, also of South Dakota; Miss Maggie of Kewanee, and Kate, now Mrs. Hartville, of Rockford. The funeral service will be conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Church of the Visitation. The remains will be laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery. The daughter Mary of South Dakota is Mrs. Hansler, not "Hinslow." Her husband was Joseph Hansler.] The funeral for Mrs. Alice Krakliow, 49, of 3212 Ninth avenue, Rock Island, will be at 2 Monday afternoon in Fifteenth Avenue Christian church. A resident of Rock Island the last 30 years, Mrs. Krakliow died at 7:30 last night in St. Anthony's hospital following an illness of the past week. The Rev. J. C. Bloebaum, pastor of Fifteenth Avenue church, will officiate at the services. Friends may call at Hodgson funeral home, Rock Island, after 7 tonight and until 11 Monday morning when the body will be removed to the church. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery. Mrs. Krakliow was born June 11, 1902, at Atkinson. She attended school in Atkinson, and was married to Russell E. Krakliow July 16, 1922, in Boone, Ia. Mrs. Krakliow was an active member of the Fifteenth Avenue church, and was a member of the Daughters of Grand Army of the Republic. Surviving are the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Harvey Lammers of Moline; four sisters, Mrs. Maud Gotthardt of Cleveland, Ill, Mrs. Lydia Blankenfeld of Davenport, Mrs. Gladys Arnold of Atkinson and Mrs. Francis Sullivan of Galva; two brothers, Charles H.
