Obituaries & Death Notices Delmar W. Urs, 74, of rural Geneseo, died Monday, January 28, 1991 at United Medical Center, Moline. Funeral services for Mr. Urs were held Thursday, January 31 at the Wright chapel of Stackhouse-Moore funeral homes, Geneseo, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Miller of First Presbyterian church, East Moline officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Geneseo. Pallbearers were John Stevenson, James Stevenson, Charles Stevenson, Jason Stevenson, Richard Davis and Jeffrey Davis. A Masonic service was held by Stewart Lodge, Geneseo at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 30 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian church, East Moline. Mr. Urs was born November 15, 1916 in Decatur, the son of Joseph and Hazel (McMullin) Urs. He married Lillian Dupree on June 3, 1938 in Atkinson. She died on January 19, 1970. Mr. Urs had worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America from 1946 until retiring from the Geneseo facility in 1982. He was a member of Stewart Lodge, #92, AF & AM, Geneseo. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Lynnette) Stevenson of Branson, Missouri; a son, Dwight of Laguna Nigel, California; grandchildren Jeffrey and Cherie Davis and Porche Urs; step-grandchildren, Jason Stevenson, Mark and Danielle Evans, Laura Pierson and Lisa Jorgeson and great-grandchildren, Alysse and Nathan Davis. DELMAR URS Geneseo – Mrs. Delmar Urs, 53, of RR 4, Geneseo, died yesterday (January 19, 1970) morning in Hammond-Henry District Hospital, Geneseo. Services will be at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon in Wright Funeral Home, Geneseo, with Rev. Ludwig C. Emigholz of Atkinson Congregational United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Friends may call this afternoon and evening at the funeral home. Lilian Frances Dupree was born in Iowa, daughter of Harry and Lillian Eaton Dupree. She lived in the Atkinson area most of her life. She was married to Mr. Urs June 3, 1938 in Atkinson. Survivors are the widower; a son, Dwight of Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Lynnette) David (should be Davis) of Colona; her parents, in Geneseo; a brother, George of Geneseo; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Henander of Peoria and Mrs. Alice Schultz of Geneseo. News, Thursday November 8th, 1883 Transcribed by Cindy Collis of Osco IL, contributed by Hans Van Landschoot of Belgium VAN LANDSCHOOT, Mary Jane Holliet Mrs. Mary Jane Vanlandschoot died at her home in this village Monday evening, December 30th, 1895, after five days of excruciating suffering from the lodgment of a bone in her throat on Christmas Day. The obstruction could not be removed without an operation and after her family physician had done all that he could to alleviate her agonies her father and sister consented to the operation as the only possible hope for her life. Her physician called to his aid Dr. Spencer, of Geneseo, and a Moline surgeon, but she had become so weak from long suffering that she never rallied and died a few hours later. By her death this village loses one who will be sadly missed. She was a woman of great business ability and was conducting a successful mercantile trade when she died. Beyond this she was nobly charitable and kind and those who suffered or were in need never appealed to her in vain. She was always ready with time and means to aid every good cause. Her funeral service will be held at the Catholic Church Thursday at 8:30 A. M. and her remains will be taken to Oakwood, Geneseo, for interment. Vandersnick, Atkinson, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Atkinson. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, where a rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. He was the owner and operator of Vandersnick Dairy, Atkinson, for 18 years. He later owned and operated Snicks Place, Atkinson, for several years. He also later worked and retired from IBP, Joslin in 1997. He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Atkinson. He married Inez Lund in 1950 in Atkinson. Memorials may be made to the Duane E. Vandersnick Memorial Fund. Survivors include his wife, Inez; a daughter, Kim VanMeenen, Geneseo; sons, Larry, Geneseo, Michael, Atkinson and Jason, Silvis; and six grandchildren. Vandersnick, 73, of Las Vegas, Nev., and formerly of Atkinson, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Illini Hospital in Silvis. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, with Rev. Don Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Atkinson American Legion. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a rosary at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Ralph Vandersnick memorial fund. He was born March 16, 1927, in Atkinson, the son of Leonard and Frances (Rumler) Vandersnick. He founded Snick's Place in Atkinson, operating it for four years. He relocated to Las Vegas, owning and operating another Snick's Place for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany. He enjoyed photography and collecting elephants. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include two brothers, Duane (Inez) Vandersnick of Atkinson and David Vandersnick of Silvis; three nephews, Judge Larry (Caryn) Vandersnick of Geneseo, Michael Vandersnick of Atkinson and Jason Vandersnick of Moline; and a niece, Kim (Randy) VanMeenen of Geneseo.
